DataBank, a major player in enterprise edge colocation, interconnection, and managed cloud services, has strengthened its leadership with two high-profile board appointments: Rob Johnson, former CEO of Vertiv, and Daniel Sturman, former CTO of Roblox.
The additions come as DataBank ramps up its high-density data centers and low-latency interconnection hubs to meet the evolving needs of its 2,500+ enterprise, hyperscale cloud, and AI clients.
Industry Heavyweights Join the Board
- Rob Johnson led Vertiv from 2016–2022, transforming it into a global provider of critical infrastructure for data centers, communications, and industrial environments. Johnson also served as CEO of APC, president of Schneider Electric North America, and has advisory and board roles with G2 Ventures, Neos Partners, and Rehlko.
- Daniel Sturman oversaw Roblox’s infrastructure as CTO from 2020–2024, scaling the platform from 100 million to nearly 400 million monthly users. Sturman previously held senior engineering roles at IBM, Google, and Cloudera, and serves on the board of Observe.
Driving the Next Phase of AI and Cloud Infrastructure
“DataBank has proven its ability to support the full spectrum of customers—from secure enterprise sectors like banking and healthcare to hyperscale cloud and AI providers,” Johnson said. “I’m excited to help the company capitalize on that success.”
Sturman echoed the sentiment, highlighting DataBank’s infrastructure ecosystem as a foundation for future growth: “I’m looking forward to helping the company support the infrastructure platforms of the future.”
CEO Raul Martynek emphasized the value of their expertise in scaling power, cooling, and compute infrastructure to handle the most demanding applications. “Their experience will be invaluable as DataBank charts its next phase of growth, driven by AI and beyond,” Martynek said.
With these appointments, DataBank signals a strategic push to reinforce its leadership in AI-driven data center services, low-latency cloud interconnections, and enterprise-grade infrastructure, positioning the company to compete with hyperscale cloud providers while supporting the next generation of high-performance applications.DataBank, a major player in enterprise edge colocation, interconnection, and managed cloud services, has strengthened its leadership with two high-profile board appointments: Rob Johnson, former CEO of Vertiv, and Daniel Sturman, former CTO of Roblox.
