I myself have more than fifteen years of business experience, mainly working for international technology companies. For the past five years, I have been leading the marketing efforts at Radix. I originally joined the company as Marketing Director and later was promoted to Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
As CMO, I am highly involved in almost every major business decision of the company. In my role today, I lead all the company’s marketing activities and am responsible for strategy, planning and execution. In addition, I am also responsible for the company’s account management/customer success, channel management and some of the business development activities.
In what ways do you think the device management space has evolved over time? What trends have stood out?
With the proliferation of digital transformation, smart devices are becoming the backbone of every organization, helping to streamline operations. This has made device management an industry requirement and the use of a device management platform will ensure that an organization’s devices are healthy, patched and tuned to their missions and the access to their digital assets is secured.
Here some key trends and typical use cases for a device management platform that are prominent today:
- App Management including configuring which apps are both allowed and blocked as well as ongoing updates.
- Device Configuration and Settings Management for defining default device configuration, power management, geofence parameters for anti-theft and more.
- Remote Support in real-time, which can be attended or unattended.
- Telemetry for optimizing device usage and making fact-based decisions.
- Over-the-Air Firmware Updates Management for keeping devices healthy and patched.
What is the scope of automation and AI contributing to the device management space?
Automation plays an important role in our platform and its mission of keeping smart devices healthy, patched and tuned to their mission. Automation does this in two main ways. The first is ongoing maintenance that can be scheduled and triggered. Examples include the daily shutdown for energy conservation, a weekly check for app updates, a monthly check for patching, all at an idle team to minimize user disturbance. The second is when new devices are going into service or repaired devices are going back into service. Automation helps apply device configurations instantly, making the device ready to be used once taken out of the box and powered on.
Artificial intelligence also has an important and growing role in device management. One prominent area is preventative maintenance. Based on a preconfigured set of rules also used for machine learning, AI constantly monitors the device activity and can provide a list of suggestions for preventive actions. In our platform, these preventative actions identified by AI can remain as suggestions or applied automatically.
These two areas – automation and AI – are very important for organizations to efficiently and effectively manage large and diverse device fleets.
How do you see the future of AI technologies with applications for enterprise usage?
Today there are endless volumes of data that AI can help analyze and identify trends that will provide decision-makers important insights for fact-based decisions.
In our world of device management, the application of AI for proactive preventative maintenance will continue to grow in importance. This is in terms of both the list of suggested actions that should be taken as well as the ability to initiate these corrections automatically.
Another area is ongoing maintenance where AI will be able to perform the necessary procedures. This will help further streamline device management operations.
Looking forward, are there additional applications of AI in your product roadmap?
Yes, in terms of AI in our product, we are mainly focusing on expanding the monitoring and analysis. This is also referred to as telemetry big data. This will continually improve the proactive preventative maintenance our platform offers, including more and better suggestions for preventative measures and actions.
