Hypertec, a global leader in sustainable AI infrastructure, has announced a major expansion into Europe through a new alliance with 5C Group and Together AI. The joint venture aims to build high-performance, regulation-ready AI infrastructure across Europe to power the next generation of frontier model training and inference workloads.
Set to begin initial rollouts in late 2025, with large-scale buildouts through 2028, the initiative marks a major milestone in Hypertec’s global strategy—and represents one of the most ambitious AI infrastructure projects in Europe to date.
1. A Strategic, Fully Integrated Alliance
The partnership combines:
- Hypertec’s sustainable AI server expertise and rapid data center deployment.
- 5C Group’s infrastructure engineering and AI cluster deployment capabilities.
- Together AI’s cloud platform and open-source generative AI model ecosystem.
Together, they aim to deliver:
- A vertically integrated AI stack, from infrastructure and cooling to software and model serving.
- Scalable, sovereign cloud services tailored for European enterprise, regulatory, and innovation needs.
2. Infrastructure at Scale: Closing Europe’s Compute Gap
The initiative will:
- Unlock up to 2 gigawatts (GW) of dedicated AI compute capacity by 2029.
- Deploy nearly 100,000 NVIDIA Blackwell and next-gen GPUs.
- Drive over $5 billion in investment across Europe.
- Launch initial deployments in France, the UK, Italy, and Portugal.
This rollout addresses Europe’s AI compute shortfall, positioning the continent to lead in sovereign AI infrastructure and research innovation.
3. Regulation-Ready, Sustainable, and Localized
- The venture is designed for EU-specific data privacy, sovereignty, and sustainability regulations.
- Hypertec is exploring local acquisitions and partnerships to ensure compliance and regional customization.
- Advanced cooling and power optimization will drive energy efficiency and carbon footprint reduction.
“We are building one of the most sustainable and high-performance AI platforms on the continent,” said Simon Ahdoot, CEO of Hypertec.
4. Political & Industry Support
Canada’s AI Minister, Evan Solomon, hailed the move as a symbol of Canada’s leadership in global AI collaboration, sustainability, and talent development.
IDC and industry observers have called the rollout a timely and strategic move to ensure Europe remains competitive and sovereign in the AI race.
“Europe’s moment to have independence and leadership in AI requires platforms that enable its ambition,” said Vipul Ved Prakash, CEO of Together AI.
5. AI Factory for Open Source & Frontier Models
- Supports fine-tuning and inference for 200+ open-source models including Llama and DeepSeek.
- Fully optimized for performance, compliance, and cost-efficiency.
- Offers synchronized infrastructure deployment and faster AI go-to-market timelines.
“With Hypertec and 5C, we’re delivering a sovereign AI cloud purpose-built for the EU,” said Prakash.
6. Complementing Canada’s AI Vision
The European buildout aligns with:
- Canada’s AI strategy and Quebec’s technology initiatives.
- Job creation and Canadian engineering export.
- North American parallel growth: 2 GW by 2029, including 600 MW online by 2026.
“With Together AI and Hypertec, we are bringing our proven capability to Europe—tailored for local needs and digital sovereignty,” said Jonathan Ahdoot, CEO of 5C Group.
Hypertec’s European expansion in partnership with 5C Group and Together AI is not just about scaling compute — it’s about reshaping the future of AI infrastructure. Designed to meet the EU’s pressing demands for sovereignty, sustainability, and performance, the initiative is poised to set a new benchmark for global AI platforms.
