Rokid is opening up its AI glasses platform to a broader developer audience with the global launch of AIUI Studio, a browser-based development environment for building and publishing spatial AI applications for Rokid’s smart eyewear. Announced at IFA Berlin 2026, the platform combines AI-assisted coding, reusable skills and hardware simulation, reflecting a broader shift in AI from standalone assistants toward software agents that can operate through new device interfaces.
Rokid has launched AIUI Studio, an agentic AI development platform designed to let developers build applications and AI agents for its smart glasses without starting with a traditional software development environment.
The company unveiled the platform at IFA Berlin 2026, positioning it as a way to reduce the technical barriers around developing applications for AI-powered eyewear. AIUI Studio runs in a web browser and covers the workflow from initial design through testing and publishing.
Its most notable feature is the attempt to move some application development into natural-language interaction. Rokid says users can describe an idea in plain language and have AIUI Studio generate an application, potentially allowing people without conventional programming skills to experiment with spatial AI experiences.
The platform also includes Rokid’s AIUI Skills Library and AIUI Code assistance. These components are intended to help developers make better use of the company’s hardware while optimizing applications for latency, memory consumption and power efficiency. A built-in hardware simulator means developers can test applications without necessarily having a physical pair of Rokid glasses available.
That hardware-aware approach is important. Developing for smart glasses is different from building a conventional mobile or web application. Processing capacity, battery life, sensors, cameras, audio, displays and real-time interaction all impose constraints. For an AI agent running on or alongside wearable hardware, inefficient software can translate into slower responses and shorter battery life.
Rokid’s move also arrives as smart glasses shift from a niche augmented-reality category toward a broader AI device market. IDC reported that display-less smart glasses shipments jumped 167% year over year in the first quarter of 2026, reaching about 2.25 million units. IDC expects approximately 13.6 million display-less smart glasses to ship during 2026, with shipments projected to reach 27.3 million by 2030.
That growth has intensified competition around the software layer. Meta has emerged as the strongest player in smart glasses, while companies including Xiaomi, RayNeo, VITURE and XREAL are expanding their own offerings. IDC puts Meta at 69.2% of the display-less smart-glasses market in Q1 2026, illustrating the scale of the competitive challenge facing smaller hardware vendors.
For Rokid, an application ecosystem could therefore be as important as the glasses themselves. The company says its developer community now exceeds 35,000 registered developers and that more than 500 agents are available through its Rokid Agent Store. Those figures are company-reported rather than independently audited, but they indicate an effort to build a developer ecosystem around AI glasses rather than treating the hardware as a closed product.
The strategy fits into a larger transition in AI development. Companies are increasingly moving beyond chatbots toward agentic AI, where systems can interpret instructions, invoke tools and complete multi-step tasks. Gartner forecasts worldwide spending on AI models and platforms will reach $64.3 billion in 2026, up 63.4% from 2025, while spending on AI application development platforms is expected to rise 38.6%.
Rokid’s platform applies that development model to a much smaller computing environment. Instead of building another general-purpose AI platform like those offered by Microsoft, Google, Amazon or Salesforce, it is trying to make the device-specific layer easier to program.
That distinction could matter as AI interfaces move away from screens. Smart glasses can provide access to AI through voice, cameras, environmental awareness and contextual information, creating applications that are difficult to reproduce on a laptop or smartphone.
The company is also expanding its European retail presence, launching a dedicated UK website and adding physical retail availability through Krys in Paris, Selfridges Tech Bar in the UK and Coolblue in Germany and the Benelux region. These moves give Rokid additional consumer distribution as it attempts to grow beyond its developer base.
At IFA, Rokid also highlighted accessibility applications for visually impaired users. The company says its glasses’ object and environment recognition capabilities were used during accessibility tours for more than 60 participants across four groups.
The bigger question is whether tools such as AIUI Studio can turn smart glasses from hardware products into programmable AI platforms. As AI moves toward agents, the ability for developers—and eventually non-developers—to create specialized experiences may become a competitive differentiator alongside models, chips and industrial design.
For Rokid, AIUI Studio is an attempt to make that software layer easier to build while keeping developers close to the constraints of wearable AI hardware.

The smart-glasses market is moving toward AI-first, software-defined experiences. IDC expects display-less smart-glasses shipments to reach 13.6 million units in 2026 and 27.3 million by 2030, while Meta currently leads the category by a wide margin.
