Managed services provider Netrio is doubling down on Northern Ireland.
The company announced an expansion of its Belfast office, located at The Kelvin, as part of a broader push to scale international operations and strengthen global service delivery. The move adds workspace for existing staff and creates room for additional hiring across technical, development, and business operations roles.
The expansion will be formally unveiled on February 17, with CEO Mark Clayman, President and Chief Transformation Officer Gina Murphy, and U.S. Consul General James Applegate in attendance—a signal that this is more than a routine real estate upgrade.
It’s a strategic investment in one of Netrio’s most important delivery hubs.
Belfast as a Strategic Tech Anchor
Netrio’s Belfast presence traces back to its May 2025 acquisition of Agio, a New York-based MSP that established operations in the city in 2020. Since then, the local team has become central to the development and support of NetrioNow, the company’s AI-powered service delivery platform.
NetrioNow is designed to modernize managed services for mid-market enterprises, using automation and AI to streamline monitoring, incident response, and operational workflows. As MSPs face margin pressure and rising customer expectations, AI-backed platforms are increasingly becoming competitive differentiators rather than optional enhancements.
By expanding in Belfast, Netrio is effectively reinforcing the engineering backbone behind that platform.
Northern Ireland has become an increasingly attractive location for global technology firms, thanks to its deep talent pool, strong university pipeline, and cost advantages compared to larger UK tech centers like London. Belfast in particular has cultivated a reputation for cybersecurity, fintech, and IT services expertise.
For Netrio, that ecosystem provides both scalability and stability as it builds out AI-enabled managed services capabilities.
A 24×7 Global Delivery Model
The Belfast expansion also fits into a broader geographic strategy.
Earlier this year, Netrio opened a new office in Pune, India, extending its follow-the-sun support model. Combined with its U.S. operations, the company now operates across three major regions—North America, the U.K., and India—allowing for continuous 24×7 service coverage.
That global footprint is increasingly table stakes in the managed services industry, particularly as cyber threats and IT incidents demand real-time response.
By strengthening Belfast while expanding in India, Netrio appears to be balancing nearshore and offshore capabilities—leveraging regional expertise in the U.K. while scaling operational capacity globally.
AI and the Future of Managed Services
The managed services market is undergoing a structural shift. Traditional MSP models—centered on reactive ticket handling and manual monitoring—are giving way to automated, AI-assisted platforms that promise predictive insights and faster remediation.
Vendors that fail to modernize risk being undercut on both cost and performance.
Netrio’s investment in its Belfast engineering base suggests confidence in its AI-driven platform strategy. Rather than outsourcing platform innovation entirely, the company is building in-house capabilities to refine and scale its technology stack.
As mid-market enterprises look for partners who can deliver both operational reliability and strategic modernization, MSPs with proprietary platforms may hold an edge.
More Than Office Space
On the surface, this is a facilities announcement. In practice, it’s a signal about where Netrio sees its future growth coming from.
Belfast is no longer just a satellite office inherited through acquisition—it’s a core node in the company’s global operations and product development network.
With AI reshaping how IT services are delivered, the battle for talent—particularly in engineering and automation—may prove just as critical as customer acquisition.
Netrio’s expanded footprint in Northern Ireland suggests it intends to compete on both fronts.
