LG Electronics is applying artificial intelligence to a part of corporate operations that has historically relied heavily on human judgment: measuring the impact of public relations. The company’s PRISM AI platform has won the Best AI Tool or Product category at the 2026 IN2 SABRE Awards Asia-Pacific, while also becoming a finalist in the Consumer Electronics & Telecommunications category at the broader 2026 SABRE Awards Asia Pacific.
For large multinational companies, measuring public relations across dozens of countries is an unusually messy data problem.
News cycles move at different speeds. Media markets have different structures. The same corporate announcement can produce very different reactions across regions. Communications teams also have to distinguish between simple media volume and coverage that actually affects reputation, business priorities or brand perception.
LG Electronics is attempting to automate more of that analysis with PRISM AI, its proprietary AI-powered communications intelligence platform.
The system has now received industry recognition, winning the Best AI Tool or Product category at the 2026 IN2 SABRE Awards Asia-Pacific. PRISM AI was also named a finalist in the Consumer Electronics & Telecommunications category at the 2026 SABRE Awards Asia Pacific.
The awards, presented by PRovoke Media, recognize work across public relations, branding, reputation and communications. The IN2 program specifically focuses on innovation involving areas such as AI, analytics and emerging communications technologies.
For LG, the significance extends beyond an industry trophy. PRISM AI represents an experiment in applying enterprise AI to an operational function that has traditionally depended on agencies, analysts and communications professionals.
Turning global media into structured data
PRISM AI uses large language models (LLMs), deep learning and AI agents to analyze communications data spanning 200 markets and 30 brands, according to LG.
The platform processes millions of news articles and generates proprietary measurements including a PR Score and CI Index. It also uses context-aware keyword analysis to distinguish the meaning and relevance of coverage rather than relying solely on keyword frequency.
That distinction matters.
Traditional media monitoring can answer relatively straightforward questions: How many articles mentioned a company? Which publications covered an announcement? How much coverage was positive or negative?
An AI-driven communications intelligence platform can potentially go further by examining context, identifying themes and connecting individual pieces of coverage to broader communications objectives.
For multinational companies, that could reduce the time required to turn fragmented media information into a decision-making resource.
From monitoring to AI-assisted decision-making
LG says PRISM AI was developed as part of its broader enterprise AI Transformation (AX) strategy.
The company wanted to apply the same data-driven approach used elsewhere in its business to global communications. Its Overseas Sales and Marketing Company identified a need for a consistent framework that could measure PR performance across international markets.
That is a significant shift in how enterprises are approaching AI.
The first generation of corporate AI deployments often focused on productivity tools: summarizing documents, generating content or helping employees search internal information.
The next stage is increasingly about embedding AI into operational decision-making.
PRISM AI fits that second category.
Rather than simply generating press releases or social posts, it is intended to help communications executives understand what is happening in the external information environment and determine how their activities are performing.
That puts the platform closer to enterprise decision intelligence than conventional generative AI.
AI agents become part of the communications stack
The use of AI agents is another notable component.
AI agents are increasingly being deployed as software systems capable of performing multi-step tasks rather than simply producing a single response. In a communications environment, that could mean monitoring information, categorizing events, identifying relevant themes and producing analytical reports.
The practical value depends on how reliably those systems interpret context.
News analysis is particularly challenging because language can be ambiguous. A company may be mentioned in connection with a competitor, an unrelated product or an historical event. A negative term may not indicate negative sentiment toward the company.
Context-aware analysis and human oversight therefore remain important even when AI handles much of the processing.
LG says the evaluation methodology and PRISM AI’s measurement metrics have been validated by Burson, a global communications consultancy. That validation is intended to strengthen confidence in the platform’s analytical framework.
How PR analytics is changing
The communications technology market is already moving toward greater automation.
Enterprise platforms increasingly combine media monitoring, social listening, sentiment analysis, brand measurement and AI-generated summaries. Vendors such as Cision, Meltwater and Brandwatch operate in adjacent areas, while broader enterprise analytics platforms from Salesforce, Microsoft and Adobe are increasingly incorporating AI into marketing and customer intelligence workflows.
LG’s approach is different in one important respect: PRISM AI was developed internally around the company’s own global communications requirements.
That can be an advantage when an organization has specialized workflows and large amounts of historical data.
It can also create a challenge.
Proprietary platforms need ongoing investment in model evaluation, data quality, governance and integration. AI-generated insights are only useful if communications teams trust the measurements and can connect them to business outcomes.
The enterprise AI lesson
PRISM AI illustrates a broader evolution in enterprise AI.
The most valuable applications may not always be consumer-facing chatbots or highly visible generative AI products. They can also be specialized systems embedded deep inside corporate operations.
For LG, communications provides a relatively contained environment in which AI can aggregate huge volumes of unstructured information and convert it into standardized measurements.
Thomas Yoon, executive vice president of LG Electronics’ Overseas Sales and Marketing Company, said the platform allows the company to measure communications impact across markets and derive strategic insights more quickly.
Cho Jung-bum, head of the AX Center of LG’s CSO, positioned PRISM AI as an example of AI transformation extending beyond individual tools into the way the company operates.
That may be the more important story.
As enterprises move from AI experimentation toward operational deployment, the competitive advantage will increasingly come from how deeply AI becomes integrated into business processes.
PRISM AI is one example of that shift — turning global media intelligence from a largely analytical support function into an AI-assisted decision system.
Market Landscape
Enterprise communications is becoming part of the broader AI analytics and decision-intelligence market.
The competitive landscape includes dedicated PR intelligence platforms such as Cision, Meltwater and Brandwatch, as well as broader marketing and enterprise data ecosystems from Salesforce, Adobe, Microsoft and Google.
The differentiators are increasingly moving beyond basic media monitoring toward:
- Contextual AI analysis
- LLM-powered summarization
- AI agents and workflow automation
- Cross-market performance measurement
- Real-time communications intelligence
- Enterprise data integration
- Objective and repeatable measurement frameworks
LG’s internal-development strategy demonstrates another path: building a specialized AI system around proprietary enterprise requirements rather than purchasing a generalized communications platform.
