Inspiren has raised $70 million in Series C funding to expand its physical AI platform for senior living communities, betting that ambient sensing and AI can help care teams identify falls, emergencies and behavioral changes before they become larger problems. Led by NewView Capital, the financing values Inspiren at more than $500 million and brings its total funding to $225 million.
Artificial intelligence in healthcare is moving beyond screens and clinical documentation into the physical environments where care actually happens. Inspiren’s latest funding round is a bet that senior living will become an important proving ground for that shift.
The company announced a $70 million Series C round led by NewView Capital, with participation from Insight Partners, Primary Venture Partners, Scale Venture Partners, Vintage Investment Partners, Lightbank, Avenir Growth Capital, Story Ventures and Camber Creek. Inspiren says the financing values the company above $500 million and takes total funding to $225 million. Its own website currently lists the valuation at $550 million.
Inspiren develops what it calls physical AI: a combination of hardware, ambient sensing, artificial intelligence and longitudinal resident data designed to understand what is happening in senior living environments in real time.
The basic problem is straightforward. Staff cannot continuously observe every resident, particularly when much of a resident’s day takes place inside a private room. A conventional emergency call system can alert staff after something has happened, but it provides limited context about what occurred or whether a subtle change in behavior could signal an emerging problem.
Inspiren is attempting to shift that model from reactive alerts toward continuous environmental awareness.
Its platform can detect events such as falls and other emergencies while generating information that care teams can use to respond. The company recently expanded its eCall system with Two-Way Voice and Alert Claiming, allowing staff to communicate with residents and identify which team member is responding to an alert. Inspiren says the capabilities are being rolled out in phases.
The funding comes as senior living faces a demographic and workforce challenge that makes automation increasingly attractive.
The U.S. Census Bureau projects that the share of Americans aged 65 and older will rise from 18.9% in 2025 to 23.4% by 2060. Globally, the share of people aged 65 and older is expected to rise from 10.5% to 19.6% over the same period.
At the same time, senior living operators continue to contend with staffing pressure. Argentum reported in its industry research that the sector could require approximately 1 million additional workers over the next decade, while staffing remains a major concern for operators.
That combination creates a strong use case for AI systems that can extend the reach of existing care teams rather than simply replace individual tasks.
Inspiren’s approach also differs from conventional generative AI applications. Large language models such as those from Microsoft, Google and Amazon primarily operate on digital information. Physical AI systems must interpret signals from the real world—movement, environmental conditions, resident behavior and events—and translate those signals into actionable information.
That makes the underlying technology stack more complicated.
Inspiren combines proprietary hardware with AI models and resident data. The company says it intends to use the new capital to expand its hardware ecosystem and increase what its models can detect, predict and act upon across different areas of a senior living community.
The commercial opportunity is potentially significant, but the company’s reported clinical results should be viewed in context.
Inspiren says Aegis Living saw residents who opted into its technology stay 34% longer, alongside a 22% lower fall rate and 24% lower injury rate. Clearwater Living reported a 63% reduction in falls resulting in injury and a 73% decline in post-fall emergency-room visits during the first three months. A 10-month study at Solera Senior Living’s Lumina Las Vegas reported a 48% reduction in falls, 54% fewer hospitalizations and 50% faster staff response times. These are customer and company-reported outcomes, rather than independently controlled clinical-trial results.
That distinction will become increasingly important as ambient AI moves into healthcare environments. A system that detects a fall is relatively straightforward to evaluate. Predicting a deterioration in a resident’s condition before an obvious event occurs is a much harder technical and clinical problem.
Privacy is another important consideration. Ambient monitoring in senior living raises questions around resident consent, data governance, cybersecurity and the boundary between safety monitoring and surveillance. AI vendors operating in this market therefore have to demonstrate more than model accuracy; they need systems that preserve dignity and fit into clinical workflows.
Inspiren says its platform uses a privacy-first design and provides real-time behavioral and emergency alerts, fall detection and care-utilization insights.
The company’s customer footprint is also expanding. Inspiren says its technology now operates across communities representing more than 80% of the largest senior housing investors, including AEW and Sabra Healthcare REIT, alongside operators such as Arrow Senior Living, Ascent Living Communities, Heritage Communities, Thrive Senior Living and Wellpointe.
The funding therefore arrives at an interesting point in the healthcare AI market. Generative AI has dominated much of the industry’s attention, but physical AI represents a different category of enterprise application—one where intelligence is tied directly to sensors, hardware, workflows and real-world events.
For senior living operators, the value proposition is ultimately less about having an AI model and more about whether that model helps staff respond faster, reduces avoidable emergencies and supports better resident outcomes.
Inspiren’s Series C suggests investors see a commercial opportunity in that combination. The harder test will be whether physical AI can demonstrate those benefits consistently across communities, resident populations and operating environments as deployment scales.
If it can, senior living could become an important market for a broader generation of AI systems that do not simply generate information, but observe the physical world and help people act on it.
