Genesis Security has cracked one of the hardest problems in enterprise surveillance: turning tens of thousands of daily video alerts into actionable intelligence. By integrating Milestone Systems’ XProtect Corporate video management software (VMS) with Actuate’s AI analytics, the Puerto Rico-based security integrator built a centralized remote video monitoring (RVM) model capable of scaling across multiple industries.
The solution tackles a problem common to large-scale security operations: operators were previously inundated with more than 96,000 motion-based alerts daily. Filtering out false positives manually was nearly impossible, delaying emergency responses and increasing operational strain.
AI Cuts Noise, Accelerates Response
By pairing XProtect’s open VMS platform with Actuate’s AI-powered filtering, Genesis reduced daily alerts by 62%, bringing verified events down to roughly 37,000. The AI layer identifies actionable threats such as intrusions, loitering, crowd formations, and weapons detection, allowing operators to focus on genuine incidents rather than sifting through noise.
“Actuate has been key to reducing false alarms and increasing real-time threat detection,” said Yasel Morales, CIO at Genesis Security.
The integration is designed to be bandwidth-efficient: Actuate receives JPEG snapshots only when motion is detected, reserving high-resolution streams for advanced analytics such as gun detection. Alerts feed directly into XProtect’s event server, creating a unified monitoring pipeline.
Coordinated Response from a Single Interface
Operators leverage Milestone’s real-time map visualization to track persons of interest across cameras, activate deterrence tools like loudspeakers, and dispatch the nearest security personnel. Genesis operates over 60 units around the clock, ensuring rapid on-site intervention.
“Video verification is a dramatic improvement for law enforcement because they can visually confirm a threat before responding,” said Ken Francis, CEO of Actuate.
All alerts, live feeds, and dispatch actions are coordinated through a single Milestone interface, enabling seamless situational awareness across client sites.
Built for Puerto Rico’s Complex Infrastructure
Puerto Rico’s diverse terrain, intermittent electricity, and mixed communication networks present unique challenges for security operations. Genesis addressed these by implementing:
- Redundant video servers with automatic failover
- Hybrid connectivity via fiber, wireless, and LTE
- Distributed Seneca servers at client sites connected through Milestone Interconnect
This ensures continuous monitoring even during power outages or network disruptions, making the system resilient in a demanding operational environment.
A Scalable Model Across Industries
Genesis now employs over 5,000 personnel and serves entertainment venues, residential communities, airports, and government facilities. More than 20 residential communities have already transitioned from traditional guards to Genesis’s AI-driven virtual monitoring model.
“Genesis’s success shows what’s possible when open-platform video technology and AI work together,” said Tim Palmquist, Vice President, Americas, Sales at Milestone Systems. “They’ve turned massive alert volumes into actionable intelligence and built a scalable model that delivers real-world results.”
With Milestone XProtect at the core and AI-powered filtering driving efficiency, Genesis has created a blueprint for multi-site, multi-industry remote video monitoring—demonstrating that centralized, intelligent surveillance can both cut costs and improve emergency response outcomes.
