Warehouse automation is moving from fixed robotic workflows toward systems that can adapt to more complex physical tasks. Geekplus, a warehouse robotics company, has opened its first European Innovation Lab in Düsseldorf, Germany, giving logistics companies a dedicated environment to test AI-powered robotics, autonomous systems and warehouse automation before deploying them at scale.
The new Innovation Lab is designed to bring customers closer to the technologies being developed for increasingly automated warehouses. More than 150 industry representatives attended the opening, including organizations such as GXO, DSV and LPP Logistics, as well as Düsseldorf Deputy Mayor Josef Hinkel.
Geekplus expects the facility to attract more than 1,000 visitors each year through customer demonstrations, technology evaluations and industry events.
The Lab brings several automation approaches together in a single environment. Demonstrations include Pallet-To-Person, Tote-To-Person and Shelf-To-Person systems, alongside logistics software, humanoid robotics and automated picking technologies.
Among the showcased systems is the Gino 1 Humanoid robot, along with RoboShuttle Hyper and an integrated Robot Arm Picking Station. Geekplus also demonstrated its Geekplus Brain support layer, which the company says is designed to support long-horizon and complex physical tasks.
The combination points to a broader transition in warehouse robotics. Traditional automation has generally been optimized around predefined movements and highly structured processes. AI-powered robotics introduces the possibility of systems that can interpret changing conditions, coordinate multiple actions and operate across a wider range of warehouse scenarios.
