He previously served as CEO of Seeing Machines, a computer vision company focused on automotive driver monitoring systems. Under his leadership, the company expanded its technology footprint in the automotive market, with its driver monitoring technology now deployed across millions of vehicles globally.
McAuliffe has also held leadership roles in semiconductor startups, including Powervation Ltd., which was acquired by ROHM Semiconductor, and contributed to the growth of Pulse Electronics into a billion-dollar revenue business. Earlier in his career, he held chip design and marketing positions at NXP Semiconductors and Texas Instruments.
His appointment comes as Cephia advances its AI-native sensor platform designed to address emerging requirements in physical AI, a category focused on intelligent machines capable of perceiving and interacting with the physical environment.

Traditional cameras rely on complex optical assemblies containing multiple lenses, filters, and mechanical components. Cephia is taking a different approach by combining AI-designed silicon metasurface optics with computational image processing to create compact multimodal sensors.
