Augur, the AI-powered threat prevention company, today announced it has raised $7 million in seed funding led by General Advance, with participation from cybersecurity luminaries and senior executives from Amazon, Google, Cloudflare, and others. The funding will accelerate the development of Augur’s industry-first predictive threat prevention platform, which monitors global internet activity, profiles attacker behavior, and maps attack infrastructure — identifying threats months before they are weaponized. As part of its rapid growth strategy, Augur also unveiled a rebrand from its original name, SecLytics, signaling its sharpened focus on empowering defenders with actionable, proactive security intelligence.
Redefining Cybersecurity: From Reactive to Predictive
“Adversaries are weaponizing AI to accelerate attacks, and security teams need AI-driven solutions that enhance their speed and accuracy to keep up,” said Joe Lea, CEO of Augur. “Our platform distills over a decade of machine learning, behavioral research, and global threat telemetry into a continuously evolving knowledge base of adversary behavior. This enables security teams to move first — not just react.”
Unlike traditional cybersecurity solutions that react only after a threat becomes active, Augur identifies malicious infrastructure during setup—often months before exploitation.
With a near-zero false positive rate of 0.007%, Augur enables early threat identification, seamless integration into customer environments, and autonomous or manual response coordination through existing security controls.
Investor Confidence and Industry Momentum
In addition to lead investor General Advance, the seed round includes backing from prominent cybersecurity leaders:
- Ely Kahn, VP Product for Cloud Security and AI/ML, SentinelOne
- Spencer Thompson, Co-Founder and CEO, Prelude
- Travis McPeak, Co-Founder and CEO, Resourcely
- Josh Lospinoso, Co-Founder and CEO, Shift5
- Plus senior executives from Amazon, Google, Cloudflare, and others.
“Augur reflects the best of innovation in cybersecurity today,” said Ely Kahn, investor and VP at SentinelOne. “The team, the pedigree, and the novelty of their solution are a winning combination. I’m excited to collaborate with them as they scale.”
Today, Augur protects major financial institutions, global energy providers, healthcare organizations, telecommunications companies, and critical infrastructure operators, actively blocking thousands of malicious connection attempts daily—often well ahead of traditional threat intel sources.
Proven Success in Shielding Against Major Cyber Threats
Augur’s platform has demonstrated success against some of the most significant cyber incidents of recent years, predicting and protecting against:
- APT29 supply chain attack on SolarWinds
- DarkSide ransomware attack on Colonial Pipeline
- Mass exploitation attempts following the Log4j vulnerability
- Cl0p ransomware campaigns targeting MOVEit vulnerabilities
- Volt Typhoon attacks on U.S. critical infrastructure
- UNC5537 breaches impacting Snowflake
- ALPHV/BlackCat ransomware attacks on Change Healthcare and Load Depot
New Brand, Same Mission: Empower Defenders with Foresight
Augur’s new branding reflects its bold mission: to lead the transition to predictive, proactive security.
The new logo and visual identity embody Augur’s commitment to innovation, clarity, and the power of foresight.
“With our rebrand and first round of funding, we’re doubling down on delivering predictive threat intelligence at scale,” added Lea. “The future of cybersecurity isn’t just faster detection—it’s prediction and prevention. That’s the Augur difference.”
