AI is moving deeper into pharmaceutical research, manufacturing and clinical operations, but deploying it in regulated environments requires more than access to foundation models. Switzerland-based consulting firm Tenthpin Management Consultants has opened an Innovation Hub in Bengaluru focused on AI, cloud computing and advanced-therapy technologies for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and life sciences organizations.
The new center is being positioned as a global center of excellence for gene, cell and tissue therapies, with Tenthpin targeting organizations across the lifecycle of advanced treatments—from research and process optimization through manufacturing, scale-up and regulatory preparation.
The Bengaluru hub will develop AI-powered analytics, predictive modeling and cloud-based collaboration capabilities aimed at helping life sciences companies manage complex processes while maintaining regulatory requirements. Its technology focus includes artificial intelligence, Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) and intelligent clinical supply chains.
That combination reflects a broader shift in life sciences technology. AI adoption is expanding beyond drug discovery into clinical development and operations, where companies must work with large volumes of scientific, operational and regulatory data. McKinsey estimates that generative AI could create $60 billion to $110 billion in annual economic value across the pharmaceutical and medical-products industry, with potential applications spanning research, clinical development, operations and commercial functions.
The challenge is turning those possibilities into systems that can operate within highly controlled environments. McKinsey’s 2025 research found that while all surveyed pharma and medtech leaders had experimented with generative AI, only 32% had taken steps to scale it and just 5% reported achieving significant, consistent financial value from the technology.
Tenthpin is therefore combining AI capabilities with established enterprise technology platforms. The Bengaluru operation will work with technologies including SAP Batch Release Hub, SAP Intelligent Clinical Supply Management and SAP Advanced Therapy Orchestration, alongside Tenthpin’s own AI-powered software designed for regulated life sciences environments.
The company also says the hub will support its global delivery model and collaborate with Indian research institutions, universities and industry partners. Tenthpin plans to double its current Bengaluru team within two years.
For enterprise technology leaders, the development illustrates an important distinction in life sciences AI: general-purpose AI capabilities are increasingly becoming commodities, while domain-specific integration, data governance, validation and regulatory controls remain significant barriers to production deployment.
The competitive landscape includes large technology providers such as Microsoft, Google, AWS and SAP, specialist life sciences software companies, and consulting firms building AI-enabled transformation platforms. Tenthpin’s strategy is more focused on connecting those technologies to specific pharmaceutical workflows.
As advanced therapies become more complex, AI infrastructure that can operate alongside existing ERP, clinical, manufacturing and supply-chain systems could become as important as the underlying models themselves.
Market Landscape
Life sciences organizations are increasing their investment in generative AI, but moving from pilots to production remains difficult because of governance, data quality, regulatory requirements and organizational change. McKinsey found that only 32% of surveyed pharma and medtech leaders had begun scaling gen AI as of late 2024.
Agentic AI is also beginning to affect the sector. McKinsey estimates that 75% to 85% of pharmaceutical workflows could potentially be enhanced or automated by AI agents, although this represents an assessment of potential rather than current adoption.
For companies developing advanced therapies, the emerging technology stack therefore combines AI models with cloud infrastructure, scientific data platforms, enterprise applications, manufacturing systems and compliance controls.
