Eightco Holdings is turning its corporate treasury into something closer to a technology-sector portfolio, combining exposure to artificial intelligence, digital identity, cryptocurrencies and the creator economy. The Nasdaq-listed company says its holdings were worth roughly $380 million as of September 2, 2026, including an indirect $90 million investment in OpenAI, $18 million in Beast Industries, 16,278 ETH, nearly 302 million Worldcoin (WLD) tokens and about $122 million in cash and stablecoins.
The strategy is notable less because of the size of the portfolio than because of what Eightco is trying to connect: AI infrastructure, proof-of-human identity, digital assets and large-scale creator distribution. Those markets are increasingly converging as AI agents become more capable, online identity becomes harder to verify and blockchain networks develop new financial and machine-to-machine applications.
Eightco Is Turning Its Treasury Into a Bet on the AI Economy
Eightco Holdings Inc. is making an unusually concentrated wager on several technologies that could shape how software, digital identity and online commerce evolve over the next decade.
The company’s latest treasury update puts its total holdings at approximately $380 million, down from roughly $389 million reported in August, largely reflecting changes in its cash and equivalent position. The portfolio includes indirect exposure to OpenAI, a significant Worldcoin position, Ethereum and an investment in Beast Industries, the company associated with creator MrBeast. Eightco also disclosed a $1 million investment in Mythical Games.
Eightco has simultaneously repurchased more than 25 million common shares under a previously announced $125 million buyback program. Management argues that buying back shares represents a value-generating use of capital.
The result is a corporate balance sheet that looks considerably different from the conventional technology-company treasury.
OpenAI provides the AI anchor
The largest strategic technology position is an approximately $90 million indirect investment in OpenAI, held through special-purpose vehicles, according to Eightco.
That gives OpenAI a roughly 24% share of Eightco’s stated treasury portfolio, although the percentage is based on the company’s own classification of its holdings rather than a conventional operating-business revenue metric.
The underlying technology thesis is straightforward. Generative AI is moving from an experimental software category into a broad computing platform used by consumers and enterprises.
OpenAI said in July that its models had reached more than 1 billion active users and more than 2 million businesses, underscoring the scale of the platform Eightco is attempting to gain exposure to.
OpenAI’s commercial expansion is also extending beyond subscriptions and enterprise software. Its advertising business, ChatGPT Ads, reached a reported $1 billion annualized revenue run rate by August 31, less than 200 days after launch, according to Reuters.
For investors, that makes the OpenAI position a bet not simply on large language models, but on the emergence of AI as a broad commercial platform spanning software, advertising, enterprise workflows and potentially autonomous agents.
Worldcoin adds the identity layer
Eightco’s largest digital-asset position is almost 302 million WLD tokens. The company says that represents about 29% of its treasury and one of the largest publicly disclosed institutional positions in the token.
The underlying technology is World, formerly associated with the Worldcoin name. Its World ID system is designed to establish that an individual is a unique human without requiring applications to receive the person’s underlying identity information.
That proposition becomes more relevant as generative AI and autonomous agents make it increasingly difficult for online services to determine whether an interaction originates from a human.
World’s latest move illustrates where the identity technology is heading. On September 2, the World Foundation open-sourced ProveKit, a zero-knowledge proving toolkit used by World ID. The system allows users to generate cryptographic proofs on their own devices and is intended to enable privacy-preserving proof-of-human functionality for enterprises, consumer platforms and developers.
This creates a potentially important infrastructure category: proof of human as a service.
For financial platforms, social networks, gaming companies and AI-agent ecosystems, the ability to distinguish people from automated systems could become increasingly valuable without requiring centralized databases containing sensitive identity information.
Why the AI-and-identity combination matters
The more interesting part of Eightco’s strategy is the interaction between these assets.
AI agents are expected to perform more tasks independently, from research and software development to purchasing and financial transactions. But autonomous software introduces a fundamental trust problem: who is behind an agent, and how can another system verify that it represents a legitimate person?
Digital identity networks such as World are attempting to address that question cryptographically.
Meanwhile, Ethereum and other blockchain networks provide programmable settlement infrastructure, while stablecoins can provide digital representations of value for transactions.
Together, those technologies point toward an emerging architecture in which AI agents can interact with verified humans, software services and financial networks.
That does not mean the pieces have yet formed a mature commercial stack. Regulation, security, identity privacy, token economics and user adoption remain significant variables.
The creator economy is the third pillar
Eightco’s $18 million investment in Beast Industries adds another component: distribution.
Beast Industries is closely associated with MrBeast, one of the largest creators on YouTube. Eightco argues that an environment where AI makes content production cheaper could increase the value of audience relationships, distribution and consumer trust.
That thesis is increasingly relevant to AI companies as synthetic content becomes easier to produce.
If AI dramatically reduces the cost of generating articles, videos, advertisements and entertainment, scarcity can shift away from content production toward attention, credibility and distribution.
Eightco is therefore positioning Beast Industries alongside OpenAI and World as exposure to three different parts of an emerging digital economy: AI capability, digital identity and audience reach.
The strategy also carries concentration risk
The portfolio’s appeal is inseparable from its risks.
A substantial portion of Eightco’s stated value is exposed to volatile digital assets and private technology companies whose valuations can change sharply. Its WLD position is particularly sensitive to token-market liquidity and the economics of World.
The OpenAI investment is also indirect rather than a directly traded equity position, meaning investors must consider the structure and valuation of the special-purpose vehicles holding the shares.
That makes Eightco different from a diversified technology ETF or a conventional software company. Shareholders are effectively gaining exposure to a concentrated collection of technology themes through a public-market vehicle.
The strategy could benefit if AI adoption, digital identity and blockchain infrastructure develop together. But the reverse is also true: weakness in any of those markets could have an outsized effect on the portfolio.
Market Landscape
Eightco’s strategy arrives as the boundaries between AI infrastructure, digital identity and blockchain are becoming less distinct.
OpenAI’s scale demonstrates the accelerating commercialization of generative AI, while World is building infrastructure intended to establish human uniqueness in increasingly automated digital environments. ProveKit’s open-source release is particularly relevant because it moves proof-of-human technology toward a developer infrastructure model rather than keeping it exclusively within World ID.
The financial layer is evolving at the same time. Ethereum provides programmable blockchain infrastructure, while stablecoins increasingly serve as settlement and treasury instruments across digital markets.
The key industry question is whether these technologies become complementary components of an agentic digital economy.
If AI agents eventually transact autonomously, platforms may need three things: computational intelligence, a mechanism for establishing trust or human authorization, and programmable financial rails. Eightco’s treasury is effectively taking positions across all three areas.
That is a more ambitious thesis than simply holding cryptocurrency.
