Temporal Technologies, creators of the open-source Durable Execution platform (Temporal.io) and enterprise-grade Temporal Cloud, has joined the newly formed Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) as a Gold Member. Hosted by the Linux Foundation, AAIF is a neutral, open consortium dedicated to advancing agentic AI through shared infrastructure and community-governed standards.
The Foundation launched with three open-source contributions widely used across the agentic ecosystem: Anthropic’s Model Context Protocol (MCP), OpenAI’s AGENTS.md, and Block’s goose. These projects provide foundational building blocks for connecting AI agents to tools, data, and real-world systems in a consistent and interoperable way.
Temporal Brings Production-Grade Expertise
Temporal was invited to join AAIF due to its role operating some of the largest production agentic applications worldwide, including agent frameworks like goose that rely on Temporal’s durability under high-volume workloads.
“We believe that core infrastructure benefits from being open source because it gives the community a voice in how it evolves,” said Maxim Fateev, co-founder and CTO at Temporal. “Agentic AI is moving into that category, and it needs neutral governance as it evolves. Temporal already powers large-scale agent systems in production, and we are contributing what we have learned to help establish a foundation the entire community can rely on.”
As part of AAIF, Temporal will contribute:
- Production expertise from running mission-critical agentic systems at global scale
- Durable Execution reliability, allowing agents to run, recover, and coordinate work over long periods
- Interoperability across heterogeneous stacks, supporting agents that interact with legacy systems, external APIs, and modern AI services
- Scalable execution patterns validated in payments, e-commerce, and distributed environments
- Collaboration in open, community-driven standards governed neutrally for the benefit of all developers building agentic systems
Durable Execution for Reliable Agentic AI
Temporal’s platform ensures that agent systems continue operating even during service failures or workload spikes, eliminating the need for custom recovery logic. As agentic architectures expand into production, reliability and durability become core requirements. Joining AAIF enables Temporal to inform standards with patterns proven at scale, helping the broader community build dependable AI systems.
