Riverbed, a leader in AIOps for observability and data acceleration, today unveiled its Riverbed Data Express Service, designed to drastically speed the movement of massive datasets critical for AI model training. Built for enterprises tackling tens of petabytes of data across data centers, edge environments, and multiple clouds, the service promises transfer speeds up to 10 times faster than current solutions, cutting what once took months down to days.
“Getting the right data to the right location quickly and securely is one of the biggest barriers to AI adoption,” said Dave Donatelli, CEO of Riverbed. “With Data Express Service, customers can accelerate time-to-value and maximize ROI on AI initiatives.”
The service is deployed on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and employs post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to move petabyte-scale datasets via secure VPN tunnels. Customers also have options to deploy data mover agents in their own tenants for additional security controls, ensuring enterprise-grade protection throughout the transfer process.
Bridging the AI Data Gap
Riverbed’s 2025 Global AI Research, surveying 1,200 leaders and technical specialists across seven countries, found that 75% of organizations plan to establish an AI Data Repository Strategy, with nine out of 10 identifying the secure movement of AI data as critical. Yet moving petabytes of AI training data remains a persistent bottleneck, delaying model deployment and driving up costs.

The Riverbed Data Express Service will be generally available in Q4 2025, giving enterprises a faster, more secure way to move massive datasets to AI-optimized GPU clusters and other high-performance environments.
