Taimei Technology Expands AI Clinical Trial Partnership With GreenLight

Taimei Expands AI Clinical Trial Partnership Taimei Expands AI Clinical Trial Partnership

Taimei Technology and physician-led contract research organization GreenLight Clinical (GLC) are expanding their strategic partnership to support clinical trial delivery across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Announced at AusBiotech 2026, the agreement extends a collaboration that began with electronic data capture and later added randomization and safety management, bringing more of the clinical trial lifecycle onto Taimei’s unified platform.

Clinical Trial Partnership Expands Beyond Core Software

The expanded agreement reflects a broader push to integrate clinical research operations into connected digital platforms. Contract research organizations manage complex trial processes spanning patient data, randomization, safety reporting, medical oversight and, in some studies, clinical imaging. When those activities rely on disconnected systems, teams can face duplicated work, fragmented information and additional coordination demands.

Taimei and GreenLight began working together in 2024, initially using Taimei’s eCollect electronic data capture (EDC) system. The relationship subsequently expanded to include eBalance for trial randomization and eSafety for safety management. The new agreement moves the partnership toward broader enterprise use rather than a set of individual software deployments.

GreenLight plans to scale trial delivery across APAC using Taimei’s unified platform, protocol-aware AI and integrated clinical imaging capabilities. The companies also intend to explore collaborative central imaging capabilities and introduce intelligent automation into routine workflows, with clinical oversight remaining part of the process.

For CROs, the potential benefit of a connected platform is operational consistency across studies. Shared data foundations can make it easier to coordinate activities and standardize processes, while automation may reduce repetitive administrative work. However, the impact depends on how well systems integrate with existing procedures, how reliably data moves between functions and whether teams can validate automated outputs.

Protocol-Aware AI Targets Routine Workflows

A key element of the partnership is the use of protocol-aware AI to support clinical research operations. Clinical trial protocols define a study’s objectives, eligibility criteria, procedures, assessments and safety requirements. AI systems that account for those study-specific rules may help teams handle routine workflows more consistently than tools operating without trial context.

The partners intend to embed intelligent automation into operational processes while keeping clinical teams involved in oversight. GreenLight CEO Dr. Robert Lin said the organizations had already worked together on data management and safety, and that expanding across the trial lifecycle was a logical next step.

Automating routine data workflows could allow medical and operational staff to spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time on study quality, participant safety and trial execution. But AI in clinical development requires careful validation. Errors in data handling, protocol interpretation or safety-related workflows can have consequences for trial integrity and regulatory compliance.

The announcement does not specify which tasks will be automated first, how AI outputs will be validated or what safeguards will govern individual use cases. Nor does it provide quantified results from the earlier deployments. Those details will be important in determining how much operational value the expanded platform delivers.

Imaging and Institutional Learning Form the Next Phase

Beyond core trial management, the partnership roadmap includes collaborative central imaging capabilities. Clinical imaging can support endpoints and assessments in areas such as oncology, neurology and other therapeutic fields, depending on the study. Centralized imaging workflows can help coordinate image collection, review and interpretation across sites, although the announcement does not identify the therapeutic areas or imaging services planned for the collaboration.

The companies also intend to build what they describe as institutional memory into the platform over time. The idea is that operational data and lessons from completed studies could inform future trial execution, helping teams reuse established processes rather than repeatedly solving the same coordination challenges.

Such an approach depends on maintaining reliable, appropriately governed data across studies. Clinical trial information is sensitive, and data reuse must account for privacy, access controls, regulatory obligations and differences between protocols. Experience from one study cannot automatically be transferred to another without considering its design and requirements.

Taimei Chairman Zhao Lu said the expanded relationship would bring operational data and medical oversight onto a shared digital foundation. The companies frame this as a way to improve consistency and reduce development timelines, but have not published independent performance results or a timetable for delivering the longer-term institutional-memory capabilities.

What the Expanded Alliance Means for APAC Clinical Research

The partnership comes as sponsors and CROs look for ways to manage increasingly complex studies across multiple countries and research sites. APAC offers a diverse clinical research environment, with different regulatory frameworks, healthcare systems and operational requirements across markets. Scaling trials across the region requires more than deploying software: organizations must also coordinate local teams, processes and compliance requirements.

For GreenLight, expanding Taimei’s platform across more of its operations could create a common technology foundation for trial delivery. For Taimei, the alliance provides an opportunity to extend its clinical development platform through an enterprise-level CRO relationship.

The commercial and operational outcomes remain to be demonstrated. The announcement does not disclose financial terms, the number of trials affected, the markets included in the rollout or measurable improvements in study timelines and cost. The next indicators will be implementation progress, adoption across trial functions and evidence that integrated workflows improve delivery without compromising quality or oversight.

Market Landscape

Clinical development technology is moving toward integrated platforms that connect electronic data capture, randomization, safety management, imaging and AI-enabled workflows. CROs are potential adopters because they coordinate multiple processes across sponsors, research sites and clinical teams.

Taimei and GreenLight are extending an existing software relationship into a broader operating model. Its differentiation will depend on the quality of system integration, the reliability of protocol-aware automation and the ability to reuse operational knowledge while respecting trial-specific requirements. In clinical research, faster execution is valuable only when data integrity, participant safety and regulatory compliance remain central.
