Xpanner, a pioneer in construction automation, has launched the X1 Kit, the first scalable Physical AI retrofit solution designed to transform existing construction machinery into intelligent, software-defined systems.
Tackling Labor, Safety, and Efficiency Challenges
Construction faces persistent labor shortages, safety hazards, and productivity bottlenecks. The X1 Kit addresses these challenges by offering a flexible, equipment-agnostic retrofit that integrates seamlessly with machinery already in use—eliminating the need for expensive new purchases.
According to Xpanner CEO Henri Lee, the kit can boost efficiency by over 50% and cut labor needs by up to 80% in tasks like pile driving, while continuously learning and adapting onsite. “The launch of X1 offers a practical, accessible form of Physical AI that drastically boosts productivity without necessitating new machinery investments. The industry is ready for this transformation, and Xpanner is proud to lead the way,” Lee said.
From South Korea to Global Expansion
Founded in 2020 by Henri Lee, David Shin, and Ryan Park, Xpanner first gained traction in South Korea before expanding to the U.S. in 2023. The company previously introduced its Automation-Ready Package, offering smart-equipped machinery like the Orteco Pile Driver and Develon Excavator. With the X1 Kit, Xpanner moves further into Physical AI infrastructure—advancing from machine-level automation to workflow-level task automation.
How X1 Works: The Physical AI Triad
The kit is powered by three core technologies:
- Mango – precision hardware control for accurate machine operation
- M2 – real-time environmental data processing and command execution
- Proprietary software suite – centralized platform for integration, oversight, and continuous remote updates
This triad allows X1 to automate high-impact, precision-intensive applications like pile driving in solar installations while laying the groundwork for broader construction site automation.
Task-Specific, Workflow-Driven Automation
Unlike solutions that focus solely on automating equipment, Xpanner takes a task-first approach, targeting high-complexity, high-precision workflows. By automating distinct tasks such as piling, X1 incrementally builds toward end-to-end jobsite automation, creating scalable efficiencies across projects.
Field-Ready Today
Xpanner’s early customers have already deployed X1 in forward field operations. Now commercially available, the kit is jobsite-ready for pile drivers, with plans to expand compatibility across additional construction equipment.
“We are excited about X1 not only for its technical innovation, but for the tangible change it will bring to the construction industry,” Lee said. “The industry has long faced chronic labor shortages, undertrained personnel, and operational inefficiencies. We believe X1 will accelerate the transition to a more automated, efficient, and resilient future—powered by Physical AI.”
