Women Applying AI Launches to Empower Female Leaders in AI
A new nonprofit community, Women Applying AI (WAAI), has officially launched in Boston, debuting during Boston AI Week with an event at Microsoft’s NERD Center on September 26. The organization aims to equip women with the skills and confidence to apply AI in their careers and communities, from hands-on practice to leadership opportunities.
“Women Applying AI is not just a community. It’s a movement,” said Luda Kopeikina, tech executive and WAAI co-founder. “We put women at the forefront of AI—not through theory, but through immersion, application, and peer-to-peer community.”
Hands-On Learning Meets Community Support
WAAI welcomes women across industries and career stages—from AI-curious professionals to C-suite executives—who want to integrate AI into daily impact. The community offers:
- Live and virtual hands-on programs
- Interactive forums and networking opportunities
- Practical toolkits to apply AI at work, home, and in the community
- Opportunities to share expertise with peers
“This isn’t about lectures or hype. It’s about real application,” Kopeikina emphasized. “Members learn by doing—whether through virtual labs, hands-on programs, or toolkits, there’s an entry point for everyone to start applying AI immediately.”
Launch Event Highlights
The September 26 launch featured a panel discussion, stories from founding members, and networking sessions with leaders promoting inclusive AI adoption. Open to prospective members, allies, and sponsors, the event marks a bold step toward advancing women in AI leadership in Boston and beyond.
Why It Matters
As AI adoption accelerates across industries, organizations face a growing need for diverse perspectives and leadership. WAAI addresses this gap by fostering practical AI skills, mentorship, and community, empowering women to not only participate in AI innovation but also to lead its deployment and ethical use.
