S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI) and IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced a strategic partnership to embed IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate agentic AI framework into S&P Global’s suite of offerings, starting with supply chain management. The collaboration aims to equip businesses with AI-powered tools to navigate today’s complex, global supply chains.
The integrated solution combines AI agents with S&P Global’s proprietary data, research, and analytics, offering enhanced visibility and insight into vendor selection, procurement, trade, and supplier risk. S&P Global plans to develop new AI agents for IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate Agent Catalog, accelerating decision-making for supply chain operations. Beyond supply chain, the partnership will extend to S&P Global’s Market Intelligence risk intelligence services.
“Partnering with IBM will elevate the AI-driven capabilities we offer to our customers in the supply chain space,” said Saugata Saha, President of S&P Global Market Intelligence. “By integrating IBM’s innovative AI capabilities with S&P Global’s distinctive data and analytics offerings, we are advancing actionable insights and streamlining workflows.”
Rob Thomas, Chief Commercial Officer at IBM, added, “Supply chains have become increasingly global and complex, and AI agents can help businesses restore control. Combining IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate AI capabilities with S&P Global’s supply chain data allows agents to connect data to action, streamlining processes and quickly adapting to optimize performance.”
How It Works
S&P Global’s supply chain solution is part of its Market Intelligence division’s Risk & Valuation Services portfolio, which leverages differentiated data, analytics, and valuations to help organizations manage risk, price assets, and improve transparency. The platform is powered by the Enterprise Data Organization, providing AI-ready data designed for machine learning and agentic AI applications.
IBM’s watsonx Orchestrate offers a single framework to orchestrate AI agents, assistants, and workflows across enterprises. Its Agent Catalog, introduced in May, features 500+ pre-built agents and tools, simplifying discovery of innovative AI solutions from IBM and its partner ecosystem.
By combining S&P Global’s domain expertise and analytics with IBM’s agentic AI technology, the partnership seeks to accelerate decision-making, improve procurement strategies, and expand AI-driven insights to other core business functions such as finance, procurement, and insurance.
