Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer (HSF Kramer) has appointed Ilona Logvinova as its Global Chief AI Officer, reinforcing the firm’s leadership in AI-driven legal innovation and digital transformation.
A seasoned innovation strategist and AI expert, Logvinova brings extensive experience from top global organizations. She previously served as Global Head of Innovation for McKinsey Legal and Managing Counsel for McKinsey Digital, following senior legal roles at Mastercard and Cleary Gottlieb, where she led legal innovation and transformation initiatives.
Announcing the appointment, Justin D’Agostino, Global CEO of HSF Kramer, said:
“Ilona will drive the firm’s global strategy to further leverage the potential of AI and legal technology in the service of our clients. Technology is fundamentally reshaping how legal work is done, and our clients’ needs are evolving just as quickly.”
D’Agostino emphasized that the firm’s early adoption of legal technology—beginning with its Alternative Legal Services hub nearly 15 years ago—has positioned it to capitalize on the AI era:
“The question is no longer whether AI will disrupt the legal sector, but how fast and how well we can harness it to deliver value. Ilona’s expertise in innovation and transformation makes her an exceptional fit for this new role.”
Commenting on her appointment, Logvinova noted her vision for embedding advanced AI across global legal operations:
“Innovation succeeds when it’s tied directly to client outcomes. Having sophisticated emerging technologies—and the best-trained lawyers to use them—will define the world’s leading law firms.”
Logvinova officially joins HSF Kramer on 5 November 2025. She will work closely with practice groups across the firm to scale AI adoption, enhance operational efficiency, and deliver tech-enabled legal services worldwide.
