China’s Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), widely regarded as the country’s premier art institution, has launched an AI-powered chatbot on its CAFA Global website, becoming the first art academy in China to leverage AI for international engagement.
Powered by DeepSeek’s model and enhanced with CAFA’s proprietary knowledge base, the chatbot operates 24/7, assisting prospective students, educators, and institutions with information searches, admissions queries, data analysis, and more. The tool transforms CAFA’s global website from a static information hub into an interactive platform, offering a richer, more accessible experience for audiences worldwide.
Launched in October 2023, the CAFA Global site serves as a gateway to the academy’s history, faculty, research, exhibitions, and cultural exchange programs. The AI assistant aligns with broader trends in edtech, where intelligent, conversational interfaces are replacing traditional one-way communication, enabling personalized, real-time interaction.
“The launch of our AI chatbot reflects CAFA’s forward-looking approach and marks a new step in the digital transformation of art education,” said Lin Mao, President of CAFA. “It expands global access to our diverse academic resources and demonstrates China’s growing influence in integrating technology and the arts.”
The chatbot represents more than convenience; it signals a shift in how educational institutions worldwide are using AI to deepen engagement and streamline information delivery. CAFA’s move may set a benchmark for other cultural and educational institutions aiming to combine art, technology, and global accessibility.
As AI continues to reshape digital communication, CAFA’s chatbot initiative highlights the growing role of intelligent systems in connecting institutions with international audiences—transforming not just how information is shared, but how communities of learners and creators interact in the digital age.
