The Association for Talent Development (ATD) is partnering with AI and L&D expert Josh Cavalier to launch a new certificate program designed to help talent development professionals harness generative AI in learning design and delivery.
The Applying AI in Learning and Development Certificate is a three-day, hands-on program aimed at giving TD professionals the skills to integrate AI into learning experience design, performance improvement, and skill development initiatives. The course also explores how AI can reshape human performance management across organizations.
“I will be sharing my L&D AI Ecosystem framework as a practical roadmap for integrating AI into the day-to-day work of TD professionals,” Cavalier said. “I’m excited to partner with ATD’s world-class Education team to help the global community of professionals skill up in this critical area.”
Transforming L&D with AI
ATD, the world’s largest association dedicated to talent development, offers more than 200 professional development courses. This new certificate leverages Cavalier’s deep expertise and his forthcoming book, Applying AI in Learning and Development: From Platforms to Performance (ATD Press, November 2025), to provide a structured framework for applying AI in practical, real-world learning contexts.

Program Details
The certificate program will be offered four times in 2025, with the first session held October 20-22 at the ATD Learning Center in Alexandria, Virginia. Each registrant will receive a hard copy of Cavalier’s new book, and seating is limited, requiring advanced registration. Additional sessions are scheduled for 2026.
This program represents a growing emphasis on AI literacy in professional development, preparing L&D professionals to incorporate AI tools, analytics, and generative content into modern learning strategies.
