Agemin.com, a frontrunner in AI-powered age verification, has unveiled a next-generation biometric face estimation model aimed at tightening online child safety. The model, which the company claims outperforms all competitors, achieves a Mean Absolute Error (MAE) of just 0.9 years for the key 9-21 age group, and 1.8 years for adults—figures that signal a major leap in accuracy for real-time digital verification.
The company plans to submit the model to the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) FATE/AEV program for independent evaluation next month. The FATE/AEV track is a widely recognized benchmark for facial age estimation, providing transparency and ongoing performance validation in an industry where claims can often outpace verification.
Agemin’s platform enables instant, privacy-preserving age checks without the need for personal documents, addressing rising regulatory pressures from laws such as COPPA in the U.S., Ofcom in the U.K., and the EU Digital Services Act. This allows social media, gaming, and e-commerce platforms to block underage access without alienating users or compromising privacy.
“Our new model represents a significant advancement in biometric technology, delivering unprecedented accuracy tailored to the nuances of facial development in children and young adults,” said Mikael Hedlöf, CEO of Bynn Intelligence, Agemin’s parent company. “In an era where online threats to children are escalating, reliable age verification is no longer optional—it’s essential.”
The innovation also tackles a key adoption challenge. Traditional age verification often relies on ID uploads, which create friction for users and slow down platform engagement. Agemin’s solution offers seamless integration via API, allowing enterprises to implement age checks without compromising the user experience.
Building on its previous AI-driven authentication tools—already industry leaders with MAEs as low as 1.1 years—Agemin’s latest model focuses on younger demographics, a segment where most age-estimation technologies struggle. The model’s high accuracy and real-time deployment capability make it a potential game-changer in digital safety.
As regulators worldwide tighten oversight on online platforms, Agemin’s proactive solution positions itself as both a compliance tool and a safeguard for vulnerable users. Pending NIST validation, the model will be commercially available to enterprise partners in Q4 2025.
