SYDNEY, Australia, May 5, 2026 – Databricks, the Data and AI company, today announced a US$300 million (AU$420 million) investment in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) over the next three years. This commitment follows impressive momentum in Q1, where the company grew by more than 85% year-on-year across ANZ. As part of this investment, Databricks will establish a new ANZ headquarters, help upskill 100,000 learners in advanced data and AI skills, and meet increasing demand for Lakebase, Genie, and Agent Bricks.
“We’re seeing a clear shift from AI experimentation to impact across ANZ enterprises. Organisations are moving beyond pilots into production – from improving customer experiences to streamlining operations,” said Adam Beavis, Vice President and Country Manager, Databricks ANZ. “Our US$300 million investment reflects the pace of adoption and our long-term commitment to the region. Now our customers can innovate even faster with Lakebase, Genie and Agent Bricks, build with confidence and drive tangible business outcomes.”
Opening of a new ANZ headquarters
Databricks will open a new 22,000-square-foot office at 400 George Street in Sydney later this year, quadrupling its footprint. The office will support a growing team of employees with dedicated training facilities, reflecting the company’s long-term investment in the region and its growing customer and partner ecosystem.
Accelerating AI adoption across ANZ enterprises
Databricks continues to expand its customer base across industries, including financial services, energy, and the public sector, with organisations such as City of Melbourne joining customers like Airwallex, Atlassian, National Australia Bank, Telstra and Queensland Health.
Demand for Databricks’ latest innovations continues to grow across ANZ, including Lakebase, Databricks’ serverless Postgres database built for AI agents, Genie, Databricks’ AI agent that lets any employee chat with their data and get trusted answers instantly, and Agent Bricks, Databricks’ platform to build, manage and govern AI agents on enterprise data. All three are now generally available in the region.
“Through our partnership with Databricks, the City of Melbourne has built a modern, unified data foundation to power our data and AI transformation and deliver real outcomes for our community. With Genie, teams can query complex data, like pedestrian flows, using natural language, turning raw data into real-time, actionable insights. It’s empowering our people to self-serve insights and accelerating our journey to becoming a truly data-driven organisation,” said City of Melbourne Innovation and Education portfolio head Councillor Andrew Rowse.
Investing in skills at scale
In line with Australia’s National AI Plan to upskill workers for an AI-enabled economy, Databricks is committed to training 100,000 learners across ANZ over the next five years through in-person and virtual bootcamps, hackathons, customer-led enablement programs, and multi-city learning festivals. A key initiative is the Databricks for Business program, which equips non-technical users to interact with data using Genie, helping democratise data and AI across organisations.
