AI Bots Dominate: Google’s crawling bot emerged as the single largest source of automated traffic, overshadowing all other AI bots and fueling debates around AI resource consumption and data scraping practices.
Cybersecurity Shifts: Civil society and non-profit organizations became the most attacked sector for the first time, likely due to sensitive user data and potential financial exploitation. Meanwhile, over 25 record-breaking DDoS attacks highlighted the rising scale of cyber warfare.
Post-Quantum Encryption Gains: To protect against emerging threats, post-quantum encryption now secures 52% of all human Internet traffic—a significant step toward future-proofing global digital security.
Outage Insights: Government actions triggered nearly half of major Internet disruptions worldwide, while outages caused by cable cuts dropped almost 50%, and power-related outages doubled.
Connectivity Leaders: European nations led in Internet speed and quality, with average download speeds exceeding 200 Mbps. Spain topped global rankings for overall Internet performance.
Cloudflare Radar, the company’s free analytics platform, powered much of the report, drawing on anonymized data from Cloudflare’s global network, which spans 330+ cities in 120+ countries, and its widely used 1.1.1.1 public DNS resolver.
